Ava Fleming Death: A Shining Star of The Belly Dance Community, Passed Away After a Brief Illness

On 23-Oct-2023 marked the day of significant loss in the belly dancing industry. Ava Fleming, a famous belly dancer and the brightly dynamic person who touched many people’s lives has passed away. She was a phenomenal dancer, and her passing marked the end of her era.

What happened to Ava Fleming?

Ava Fleming died due to Multiple sclerosis, a neurological disease that affects and damages the central nervous system neurons and nerve fibres, due to which brain signals cannot travel to the spinal cord and distant body parts.

Ava Fleming’s fight with multiple sclerosis immobilized her in her last years. Still, despite multiple challenges, she stood up with bravery and showed excellent performances with her unwavering commitment and dedication to her work.

Despite facing severe issues in her life, she brought smiles and joy to people around her. In her final years, she found peace in her mountain-view home and always cherished the beauty of her land. Luna Belgium shared her heartfelt condolences to Ava Fleming on Facebook.

Who was Ava Fleming?

Ava Fleming, hailing from Phoenix, Arizona, brought an innovative and modern approach to the Raqs Sharki. She had a unique talent with 20 years of experience as a Middle Eastern dancer and cross trainer in Latin ballroom in partner performance and instruction.

Throughout her remarkable career, she was a performer, choreographer, and teacher of Middle Eastern dance. Her unique dancing style was a combination of traditional Middle Eastern

dance and contemporary influence that grabbed the attention of even an international audience. She was in demand due to her teaching skills and mentorship. She always encouraged her student to explore new techniques in their dance.

She was the luckiest to perform with renowned musical talents: Chris Spheers, Souhail Kaspar, and Karim Nagi of Turbo Tabla.

She inspired many people and has been recognized by her audience peers. She was the only dancer with three awards: Belly Dancer of the Universe competition categories of Champion, People’s Choice and Miss Congeniality in 2004.
