Kevin James, a Clemson University professor who also served as the school’s founding director of mathematical and statistical sciences, passed away in a tragic automobile crash. His passing was announced in the following Facebook post:

“Please remember to pray for the James family. Kevin, the head of the math department at Clemson University, and his wife, Letisha, were involved in a horrific accident today. Letitia is in the ICU, and sadly Kevin perished in the crash! This is terrible news for everyone who knew him as a great man of God! Also, please remember Alexa and Robert in your prayers.”

While on vacation with his wife in Florida’s Venice/Sarasota region, Kevin James was involved in a car accident and sustained injuries. He later passed away as a result of his injuries. In the collision, his wife Letitia also suffered injuries. She was transported to a hospital and was on the ventilator fighting for her life. The public is not informed of the accident’s circumstances.

The family might disclose the funeral arrangements later. Everyone, including friends, family, and students, is mourning Kevin James’ passing and using social media to pay respect to him and express their sympathies.

Kevin James, renowned for bringing number theory research and teaching programmes to Clemson University, was named founding director of the new School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences inside the College of Science.

After taking over as the school’s executive director in January 2019, James has assembled a group of enthusiastic, wise, and committed leaders.

Since joining the faculty in 2000, James has been researching elliptic curves connected to the distribution of primes, particularly the Lang-Trotter and Sato-Tate conjectures and related subjects. He enjoys seeing how this field has developed over time, in part because of the work of undergraduate researchers.
